<초록>

한국전통사회에서 효의식은 한국인의 삶과 사회운영의 기초적인 가치를 제시했다, 오늘날에도 효의식은 그 본질과 긍정적 관점에서 개인적 인격과 사회적 가치로서 유효한 가치가 있다. 미래사회에도 인간애에 기초한 사회공동체를 만들어가는 가치 기반을 제공한다. 효정신의 본질적인 가치는 인본(人本)사상, 부모자녀의 친밀 감정에 기반한 인간의 도리, 개인 품성을 고양하고 개인 품성에 기초한 문명사회를 만들어가는 문화자산이라는 점에서 개인 인격의 기반이 되고 건전한 미래 사회를 만들어가는 자산이다. 따라서 과거 효치를 행한 역사적 기능과 현대사회적 한계에도 불구하고 여전히 현대사회의 효정신과 효행이 요구된다. 현대 산업사회를 지나는 동안 한국사회는 급격한 가정 해체, 노인의 사회적 지위 약화, 노년기의 장기화 등 노인이 처한 삶의 양상에 주목하여 효정신을 현실화할 필요가 있다. 한국의 미래사회와 효정신의 계승은 인간애와 인정에 기반한 복지사회를 만들어 웰빙ㆍ웰에이징ㆍ웰다잉이 가능한 미래사회의 토대가 될 것이다. 앞으로 효는 국민 인권 측면에서 재인식해야 하며, 국민의 행복추구권 차원에서 효정신의 계승이 필요하다. 노년기의 삶의 안정성 보장, 활기찬 노인 생활을 지원하는 지역사회의 정책적 노력, 시민자원봉사 활동과 효의식 연계, 평생교육 차원에서 노인교육 증가, 종합적 웰에이징 및 웰다잉 문화 확산 정책 조성 등이 필요하다. 이러한 내용은 자녀나 가정이 부모에게 하기 어려운 내용이며 국가나 지자체가 이를 성실하게 계획하고 시행할 의무가 있다.

In traditional Korean society, filial piety presented the basic values of Korean life and social management. Even today, a sense of filial piety has a valid value as a personal character and social value in terms of its essence and positivity. It also provides a foundation of value for creating a social community based on humanity in the future. The essential values of filial piety are humanism, human morality based on intimacy feelings of parents and children, cultural assets that enhance personal character and create a civilized society based on personal character. In this respect, it is an asset that forms the basis for personal character and creates a sound future society. Therefore, despite the historical functions and modern social limitations of filial piety-based politics in the past, the filial piety are still required. During the passage of the modern industrial society, Korean society needs to realize the spirit of filial piety by paying attention to the aspects of life faced by the elderly, such as rapid dismantling of families, weakening the social status of the elderly, and prolonged old age. The succession of Korea’s future society and filial piety will be the foundation of a future society where well-being, well-aging and well-dying can be possible by creating a welfare society based on humanity and love for human. Hereafter, filial piety should be re-recognized in terms of people’s human rights, and the succession of filial piety is necessary in terms of the people’s right to pursue happiness. It is necessary to ensure the stability of life in old age, policy efforts by local communities to support vibrant senior life, link civic volunteer activities with filial piety, increase education for senior citizens, and create policies to spread well-aging and well-dying culture. These contents are difficult for descendant or families to do to their parents, and the state or local governments are obliged to plan and implement them faithfully.
