Purpose: This study was done to compare the patients’ health characteristics staying at long term care hospitals by dementia and to investigate factors related to health characteristics in patients with dementia. Methods: A descriptive research design was used.

A total of 116 older adults aged more than 65 living at long-term care hospitals participated in the study. Data were collected using questionnaires and electronic medical records from July 4 to August 28, 2022. Results: The proportion of patients with dementia group was 51.7% (n=60). Factors related to health characteristics in patients with dementia included sex (OR=3.40, p=.002), nutrition (OR=3.00, p=.026), infection (OR=2.54, p=.029). Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, monitoring the nutritional and infection status of older adults staying at the long-term care hospitals would be helpful into preventing and managing the health problems in patients with dementia.
